The South State Bank exhibit contains two teller stations with drawers where play money and checks are stored. Children can play on each side of the teller counter pretending to be the customer or the teller. Young customers can obtain cash or write a check. Young tellers can cash checks or give change in different amounts of currency. Books about money are also available for caregiver’s to explain the difference of each type of currency.

Key educational components:

The Bank educates children about money including the use of money, the value of money, and the types of money. All of these activities help develop a child’s mathematical skills. There is also a safe in the bank with a combination lock and a wooden mailbox with wooden letters and stamps which enhances fine motor skills.
