Frequently Asked Questions

Is there something for my 4 month old to do?

Yes!  We have a Toddler Area especially for little ones under two with age appropriate toys and activities that help foster motor skills.  There are two rocking chairs as well as a mini play set with a soft carpet.  It is a closed in, gated area.

Do you have a changing table?

Yes, the restroom closest to the Toddler Area has a changing table and wipes.

Can I leave and come back?

We currently do not allow re-admission for later in the day however if one person from the party wants to leave, get a take out lunch and bring back to the museum (while the rest of the party is still there) and eat on the porch, you are more than welcome to do that.

Can I bring food?

You may bring food but it must be consumed on the porch only.  We do not allow food and beverage inside the museum (except for birthday parties contained in the Art Room)

Can I drop my child off?

The museum is meant to be an interactive experience between you and your child therefore your supervision is necessary during your visit.  However, in season, we do have a Parent’s Night Out program in which you can drop off your child after hours ( usually 6-9pm on Wednesdays during the summer) and we have a pizza dinner, activities and supervised play with staff members.

Is The Sandbox non-profit?

Yes, The Sandbox is a 501c3, non profit organization.  Admission and Program fees cover only 65% of our annual operating costs.  Financial support assists providing educational play opportunities to ALL children throughout our Low Country area.  All donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.
