“What we want is to see the child in pursuit of knowledge, and not knowledge in pursuit of the child.” –George Bernard Shaw
The Sandbox offers many opportunities for educators. Field trips may be scheduled by contacting the museum at 843-842-7645. Allocations are available to assist with defraying field trip cost. Please inquire about availability when you call to schedule your trip.
The Sandbox also has week long curriculum programs on varying topics which may be borrowed for use in your classroom. Current topics include: a science based unit on color, a letter of the week demonstration kit and a literature rich program on the environment. All of these programs have hands-on materials, all needed supplies and a range of adaptable activities.
Teachers are invited to crate a special learning journey for students by planning a field trip to The Sandbox. Mondays are reserved for school children to enjoy the exhibits as a class. A two-hour block is available each Monday morning from 9:30-11:30am. School sponsored field trips may also be scheduled during normal business hours. The school must provide a minimum of one adult for every five children
The rate is $5.00 per student. No charge for teachers/chaperones. Free member admission does not apply. Payment due day of field trip (Cash, Check or Charge)
